## Custom artwork

The pigeon branding and Eel pieces are original ChessPigeon artwork. All rights reserved. The third-party licences listed here do not apply to these assets.

## Classic sources

The twelve `_classic/*.svg` files were exported on November 1, 2026 from react-chessboard 5.12.1 with their geometry intact. Their original Cburnett artwork is multi-licensed; this project selects the BSD 3-clause option. React adaptation notices are retained separately. ## Appearance adaptations — November 1, 2026

Customized pieces may have different body and outline colours. Classic and Chessnut use flat colour substitutions; Spatial and Celtic retain their gradient shading. Merida uses silhouette and highlight colour changes, with an optional outline on black pieces. Original geometry, transforms, masks and opacity are retained. Customized third-party SVGs include attribution, licence and dated modification notices. Merida artwork and its modified versions remain GPL-2.0-or-later.

Original editable SVGs are available at `/pieces/<set>/<w|b><K|Q|R|B|N|P>.svg` (Classic uses `_classic`). The colour-adaptation source is available as [appearance-source.txt](appearance-source.txt) under its [MIT licence](MIT-appearance.txt). These sources and the selected RGB values reproduce the colour adaptations.
